When Sergeant Mike Dunwoody sees what he believes to be a child drowning, he doesn't hesitate to dive in to try and save it.  The only problem is, it isn't a child, but an alien, and when Mike dies of a fatal heart attack after the rescue, the alien uses its technology to bring him back to life...only it isn't Mike who returns, but Michelle, and Michelle is a girl with a difference...
